Mobile Showers Ministry

Our Mission: “To serve God by serving others.”

Our homeless neighbors live in tents, shelters, personal vehicles, as well as the streets of uptown and the suburbs.

Our mission is to go where they are and provide the basic hygiene items and services they need. We have acquired a mobile shower that is towed to areas frequented by homeless individuals on the 2nd and 4th Saturday each month. They are able to shower in secure privacy. We also provide them with new underwear, feminine hygiene items, and a variety of personal care items we so often take for granted.

We need your help! You can make a donation. 100% of what we receive goes back into the ministry for operating and stocking the mobile shower. We also need volunteers to help make this outreach a personal investment in the lives of homeless men, women and children.

THE SLEEPING BAG STORY

In preparing for replenishing supplies for the next Serve Day, we came across an ad in the Walmart Homeless section advertising sleeping bags. We’re able to purchase 10 Zero Degree rated bags for every $117 donated.

It seemed logical for the Shower Ministry to consider given the fact we were already giving out blankets, toboggans, gloves and jackets. So we made a decision to issue a public plea via FaceBook. Just a couple of takers however that means that 24 persons will have 0 degree rated sleeping bag! We thank God for supporters for the Shower Ministry – it is all about serving Him by helping our homeless friends on the street! And yes, they are friends as we have begun to learn their names!

Showers to the People is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. We are reaching out to individuals, churches and businesses with a passion to serve our homeless community.

Now that the showers are operational, our objective is to keep them equipped and supplied.

WE NEED YOUR HANDS

We’re looking for individuals who truly want to invest their time and energy in the lives of others less fortunate. In our case, it is a matter of welcoming individuals to a hot shower, providing towels, washcloths and basic hygiene items and a change of underwear.

We need volunteers to sanitize shower units between each use, to launder soiled towels and washcloths, and to restock the basics supplies. Other qualified volunteers will drive the truck that tows the trailer. Additional needs will call for volunteers in other areas as the ministry grows.
